Post-Lockdown Pampering

Post Date: 09 Jul 2020

After three months in lockdown and the reality of living with long unruly locks, box dyes and dodgy DIY haircuts, it’s no wonder that a collective sigh of relief could be heard in households across the country when our barbershops and hair salons finally reopened their doors last weekend.

Here in Clapham Junction, our hairdressers and barbers have been incredibly busy, preparing to welcome back their customers and working hard to implement the five key steps to working safely, as detailed in Government guidelines.

So, as we all look forward to some much-needed post-lockdown pampering, here are just some of the superb businesses on your doorstep which will leave you feeling absolutely fabulous!

BARBERSHOPS

Whether you’re in need of a barbered cut or beard trim – you’ll find plenty of barbershops in your local area which are simply a cut above the rest...

Anthony Laban Barbershop – inspired by the traditional urban, cool barbers of New York – is nestled amongst the boutiques, coffee shops and antique emporiums of Northcote Road. Anthony was recently featured in a short film where, ahead of reopening, he encouraged residents to support local. Watch here…

Over on St John’s Road, you’ll discover Jacks of London, where you can enjoy ‘the ultimate barbering experience’. In addition to high-end male grooming services you’ll have complimentary access to their plasma sports wall and Wi-Fi.

A few doors along, Pro-Kut clients can enjoy a truly interactive hair styling experience with TV’s on each client station!

Or, with 20 years’ experience in barbering, Northcote Barbers on Broomwood Road is the perfect place for gents who like things trim and proper, sharp haircuts and smooth hot towel shaves. Traditional service with a modern touch.

And, don’t forget, Battersea Rise is also home to Viva Styles – another local barbershop offering great haircuts, beard trims and grooming services.

Finally, The Gents Barbershop on St John’s Hill – which was recently visited by the Minister of London – offers a convenient five-star service in a casual atmosphere where you can really feel at home.

HAIRDRESSERS

Whatever style takes your fancy, or whichever ‘do’ makes you feel like you, Clapham Junction is home to a huge selection of great hair salons – guaranteed to give you that stylish coiffure you’ve been waiting for.

St John’s Road hit the news last weekend as Under-Secretary for the Department of Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy & Minister of London – Paul Scully MP – returned to The Junction to celebrate the reopening of hairdressers by having his first post-lockdown haircut at Rush. Very smart! Watch here…

Along the road, you’ll find high street favourite – Toni & Guy – a multi-award-winning salon with a talented and established team, ready and waiting to take exceptionally good care of you.

Alternatively, Lavender Hill is home to one of London’s leading Afro hair salons – Hype Coiffure – previously voted 'The Cut' Hair Awards - Best Afro Salon. Other accolades include Southern Stylist of the Year, Natural Hair Stylist of the Year, Weave Stylist of the Year and Colourist of the Year.

Nearby you’ll find Patrizia Manias who guarantee you’ll leave their salon feeling the best version of you. Or, for new treatments and colouring techniques to keep you ahead of the latest trends and innovations, visit Headmasters as you head down the hill.

On Northcote Road, the local Edward James London salon continues to support our wonderful key workers by offering NHS staff a 40% discount on their first visit and 20% thereafter, plus 100 free haircuts to NHS workers who have been nominated by their community on the Edward James social media platforms!

Here, you’ll also find two popular independents who are deeply ingrained in the Northcote Road community – Head South and Mint Hair London – both salons are extremely accommodating and on hand to offer expert styling advice.

On St John’s Hill you’ll be offered world class service by the team at The Hair Club London and you’ll leave looking and feeling like a million dollars. Ahead of opening last Saturday, Yvan and Denise demonstrated the safety measures they've put in place at their salon. Watch here…

Other salons on St John's Hill include Aglaea Hair and Beauty and All Shook Up.

Keeping customers safe is the absolute priority and so you’ll find all these businesses implementing deep clean procedures, handwashing and hygiene services, along with extra precautions where people cannot be two metres apart such as using screens to separate clients, staggering arrival and departure times and minimising contact time. And, with virtual queueing apps and booking systems, you’ll have ample opportunity to safely pamper yourself as you emerge from lockdown!

THE BEAUTY SECTOR

Our much-missed beauty salons, nail bars, spas, massage parlours and tanning shops are working hard behind the scenes, preparing to safely reopen once they receive the go-ahead from Government.
