The St John’s Hill Festival SW11 embraces the spirit of Eurovision!

Hello Europe, this is Clapham Junction calling! On Sunday 12th May, the annual St John’s Hill Festival – organised and sponsored by The Junction BID – embraced all things Eurovision, from the spirit of community and culture, to the wonderful and sometimes wacky.

It was a day packed full of Festival Fun for the whole family, with 30+ pop-up stalls; fantastic street food and drink; arts and crafts; costume characters; live music; and DJs from Riverside Radio who were broadcasting live and interviewing locals and visitors. 

If you couldn't make it down to St John's Hill this year, here's just a taster of what you missed:

Visitors were treated to live music including the incredibly talented singers from Abba Angels, who provided a fitting salute to the original Swedish foursome (winners of The Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton 50 years ago!)

The festival also showcased some great local talent, including singers Rosie Johnson and Tasha.

Over on Spencer Road (just off St John's Hill SW11 1TQ), The Kidz Zone provided fun for all the family with FREE face painting and costume character, Batman, making an appearance with his famous car, the Tumbler!

We also hosted a free Dog Show for Clapham Junction's K9 furry friends. Perfect pooches walked the walk in the following categories:

• Dog Mats / Musical Sit
• Waggiest Tail
• Talent Show
• Best Decorated Lead and Owner
• Cutest puppy (under one year)
• Best Young Handler
• Old Timer
• Best in Show

The Festival delivered a day packed full of free entertainment and Eurovision-themed fun. It was also a great opportunity for locals and visitors to discover St John’s Hill with its fantastic selection of restaurants, cafés, bars, pubs and nightlife; health and beauty services; and wonderful independent retailers and business services. 

With local business owners throwing their doors open and welcoming visitors throughout the day, it was douze points all around!
